[platelet endothelial aggregation receptor 1] This protein has been identified independently as Jedi. The protein is being referred to also as MEGF12.
The PEAR1 membrane protein has been identified by Nanda et al (2005). The protein signals during platelet aggregation. PEAR1 is most highly expressed in platelets and endothelial cells. Upon platelet aggregation PEAR1 becomes phosphorylated on Tyr-925, Ser-953, and Ser-1029, which is blocked by the integrin-alpha-2b / integrin-beta-3 antagonist eptifibatide. Variants of PEAR1 have been reported to be associated with increased platelet aggregability (Herrera-Galeano et al, 2008; Faraday et al, 2011).
