[p53 induced protein with a death domain] The protein (915 amino acids in mice, 910 amino acids in humans) contains a death domain and is involved in the regulation of cell death by apoptosis and also an LRR domain. The protein has been identified independently as LRDD. PIDD is being referred to also as PIDD1, and the splice variants that have been described are PIDD2 (which is the LRDD isoform), PIDD3 (Cuenin et al, 2008), and PIDD4 (Huang et al, 2011). Auto-catalytic cleavage of PIDD generates a 48 kDa fragment that contains the LRR domains
