PRV1

[polycythemia rubra vera 1] This gene is overexpressed in neutrophils of patients with polycythemia rubra vera (Temerinac et al, 2000), one of the myeloproliferative disorders that arise from acquired mutations in a pluripotent hematopoietic stem cell and is accompanied with an increased production of one or several hematopoietic cell lineages (Pahl, 2000). PRV1 cell surface expression, unlike elevated mRNA livels, is not consistently elevated in patients with polycythemia vera compared with healthy controls (Klippel et al, 2002).

Klippel et al (2002) have reported that antibodies against the neutrophil antigen NB1 also detect PRV1. Bettinotti et al (2002) and Caruccio et al (2004) have reported that PRV1 is an allele of the neutrophil antigen ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
