[Pregnancy-specific glycoprotein 23] This glycoprotein, which is being referred to also as CEA11 [carcinoembryonic antigen 11] in sequence databanks, is a member of a larger family of pregnancy-specific glycoproteins secreted by the placenta (McLellan et al, 2005), and is one of the most abundantly expressed murine PSGs during midgestation (Ball et al, 2004). Wu et al (2008) have reported that murine PSG23 induces TGF-beta-1 and VEGF in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells, immune cells at the implantation site that are known to secrete factors that promote angiogenesis.
