(-1-) suppressor E receptor factor

see: Suppressor factors.

_____________________________________________________________________________

(-2-) suppressive E receptor

This factor was identified in the malignant effusions derived from ovarian, lung or head and neck cancer patients. It inhibits T-cell dependent immune responses in vivo and in vitro, including the inhibition of E-rosetting and may be a negative feed-back regulator of immune response produced by activated macrophages. Amino acid sequences of the two polymeric components of SER are identical with the beta and alpha 2 subunits of normal adult Haptoglobin. Tumor-associated SER is 100-1000 times more potent an immunosuppressor than normal plasma haptoglobin and is immunochemically analogous to the neonatal form.
