[signal regulatory protein-alpha-1] The gene (approved gene symbol: SIRPA) encoding SIRP-alpha-1 (also: SIRP-alpha) has been cloned by Kharitonenkov et al (1997). The protein is known also as PTPNS1 [protein tyrosine phosphatase nonreceptor type substrate 1] and has been described independently as SHPS1 [SHP substrate 1; SH2 domain-containing phosphatase substrate-1]. In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD172A.
SIRP-alpha-1 is a substrate of activated receptoy tyrosine kinases
