This protein appears to be the Xenopus laevis homolog of mammalian survivin (Song et al, 2003). The protein is a component of the chromosome passenger complex, and its phosphorylation is important for its function in spindle assembly (Canovas PM and Guadagno, 2007; Yamamoto et al, 2008).
