SUMOylation
[SUMOylated]
This term refers to the reversible attachment of SUMO proteins (See: SUMO1, SUMO2/3, SUMO3) to other proteins, which influences their bioactivities. SUMOylation modifies the interactome, localization, activity, and lifespan of its target proteins (Gareau and Lima, 2010; Geiss-Friedlander and Melchior, 2007; Johnson, 2004). SUMOylation is a key post-translational modification also that drives different steps of human tumorigenesis (Mattoscio and Chiocca, 2015; Rabellino et al, 2017).
