[TRAF family member-associated NF-kB activator] TANK was identified as an intracellular protein mediating activation of transcription factor NF-kappa-B following signaling through the surface receptors CD40 and TNF receptor 2. TANK is known also as I-TRAF.
TANK interacts with several members of the TRAF protein family and forms complexes with TRAF1, TRAF2, and TRAF3. These complexes then mediate activation of the transcription factor.
Human TANK blocks binding of TRAF2 to the Epstein-Barr virus transforming protein LMP1 and inhibits LMP1 mediated
