[tumor necrosis factor-alpha-induced protein 1; TNF-alpha-induced protein 1]. This is identical with TNFAIP [tumor necrosis factor-alpha-induced protein; TNF-alpha-induced protein]. The cDNA has been identified by Wolf et al (1992) who referred to it as B12 and reported an involvement of the protein as an immediate-early response gene in the primary response of the endothelium to TNF-alpha or LPS. The human gene is located on chromosome 17q22-q23 and appears to be highly conserved. Expression appears to be developmentally regulated in a tissue-specific manner, with B12
