Astressin, Astressin B, Astressin(2)-B are peptidic high affinity hormone receptor antagonists for Corticotropin releasing hormone. These compunds show low intrinsic activity, high solubility in aqueous solutions, and increased metabolic stability (Gulyas et al, 1995; Rivier et al, 1999). These antagonists modulate ACTH responses to stressors, including LPS- induced TNF-alpha and IL6 release (Rivier et al, 2003), ACTH secretion from pituitary cell culture in vitro, as well as stress-induced increase in ACTH plasma levels after peripheral administration in rats (Gulyas et al, 1995).
