symbol: kra. This Drosophila melanogaster protein, encoded by gene CG2078, has been identified by Charatsi et al (2003). Krapfen encodes the Drosophila homolog of MyD88, an adapter protein operating in the mammalian IL1 pathway. Krapfen acts between the receptor Toll and the cytoplasmic factor Tube and most likely forms heterotrimeric complexes with Tube and Pelle and is required for the establishment of dorsoventral patterning in the Drosophila embryo.
