This peptide (AKSYNFGLamide) has been found in Manduca sexta (Davis et al, 1997). Neuroendocrine cells in the brain, abdominal ganglia, and their respective neurohemal organs appear to release the peptide as a neurohormone. It probably functions as a neuromodulator, possibly involved in the regulation of fluid transport and having a myomodulatory or myotrophic function in the hindgut of larvae.
