called also N5. The N5 gene has been identified by virtue of its ability to associate with the retinoblastoma tumor suppressor gene (Rb). It is a 84 kDa nuclear matrix protein that localizes to subnuclear regions associated with RNA processing (Durfee et al, 1994). The human gene has been cloned by Gasparri et al (2004). Strässer et al (2002) have cloned the gene as HPR1, the human counterpart of a yeast gene mutations in which cause a hyper-recombination phenotype with increased mitotic intrachromosomal recombination. The approved gene symbol is THOC1 [THO complex 1
