abbr. and gene symbol: RPS30. Ribosomal protein S30 is a structural component of the 40S subunit of ribosomes (40S ribosomal protein S30) (Kenmochi et al, 1998; Vladimirov et al, 1996). Fragments of this protein have been shown to possess antimicrobial activities and thus may have effects that are independent of its ribosomal function.
