This neuronal cell surface antigen has been identified through antibodies raised against postnatal cerebellar cells, which block the formation of stable neuron-glial contacts and prevents neuronal induction of glial process outgrowth in a microculture system for mouse cerebellar cells (Edmondson et al, 1988).
