This antibacterial C-terminally amidated and glycine-rich (47 %) peptide (GHLGRPYIGGGGGFNRGGGFHRGGGFHRGGGFHSGGGFHRGGGFHSGGSFGYR) has been isolated from hemocytes of the woodlouse Armadillidium vulgare, naturally infected or uninfected by Wolbachia, an intracellular Gram-negative bacterium. Armadillidin is expressed constitutively in hemocytes. The peptide shows antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria (Herbinière et al, 2005).
