[bursal septpeptide 2] This short peptide (TPSGLVY) has been identified by Feng et al (2010) in the bursa of Fabricius, the central immune organ unique to birds. BSP-II, which is one of several other bursal peptides, acts as a regulatory peptide factor and has been shown to potentiate immune responses of Th1 cells and Th2 cells in a dose-dependent manner. BSP-II also enhances hybridoma SP2/0 cell proliferation and levels of antibodies secreted by these cells. BSP-II also has effects on the viability of tumor cells (Hela and SP2/0).
