[CC chemokine ligand 10, chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 10] This used to be the approved gene symbol for a member of a group of cytokines generally known as chemokines (Zlotnik and Yoshie, 2000). Members of this group of so-called CC-Chemokines belong to the SCY family of cytokines and are designated CCL (L for ligand) followed by a number.
Note that this designation and associated designations (SCYA10) have been withdrawn. The term appears in older publications where it is being used as a designation for IP-10 (which is CXCL10, so CCL10 might be a typo). CCL10 might also refer to mouse CCL9, which has been described as
