a cell line obtained after extended culture of CT.EV cells (a subline of CTLL-2 cells) in IL4 and subsequent mutagenesis of these cells with ethylmethane sulfonate and selection for lack of expression of the p55 chain of the IL2 receptor.
The cells are hyporesponsive to IL2 but retain their full sensitivity to IL4. CT.4S cells respond poorly to IL2 at concentrations of 100 U/mL or less although they respond vigorously to higher IL2 concentrations.
CT.4S cells give measurable responses to 3-10 U/mL (approximately 15-50 pg/mL) of IL4.
