[Glu-Asp-Val-Pro-Ser-Glu-Arg] Reddi S et al (2018) have isolated this peptide, termed PEP1 by them, from buffalo milk hydrolysates of casein. They have reported that this peptide induces the expression of osteoblast differentiation marker genes and significantly induces the expression of alkaline phosphatase activity, and raises osteocalcin levels and mineral deposition in rat calvaria osteoblasts, suggesting a possible role as an ingredient in functional food preparation for osteoporosis therapy.
For this peptide derived from casein see: casein-derived iron-chelating peptides
