[FADD-like interleukin-1 beta-converting enzyme] FLICE, known also as CAP4, MACH, MCH5 (= Caspase-8; see Caspases), is a 55 kDa component of the death-inducing signaling complex initiated by the FAS antigen (see: APO-1; see also: Apoptosis) (Muzio et al, 1996). FLICE has homology to another signaling component, FADD, and to the family of cysteine proteases related to IL1-beta Convertase (see also: Caspases). FLICE binds to the death effector domain of FADD.
