[galactoglycoprotein] This protein has been isolated from human plasma (Schmid et al, 1980) The protein contains an unusually high amount of carbohydrates (76 %), consisting mainly of N-acetylneuraminic acid, galactose, N-acetylgalactosamine, N-acetylglucosamine. Schmid et al (1992) have shown that this protein is identical with sialophorin and leukosialin. In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD43.
