ING1

[inhibitor of growth 1] Called also: p33ING1. This gene has been cloned by Garkavtsev et al (1996). Jager et al (1999) and Saito et al (2000) have identified 6 splice variants that differ in their 5' regions and are expressed differentially in different tissues.

The 33 kDa protein has been reported to mediate growth arrest, senescence, cell death by apoptosis, anchorage-dependent growth, chemosensitivity, and repair of UV-damaged DNA (Cheung and Li, 2001; Vieyra et al, 2002; Feng et al, 2002).
