abbr. INHBE. Also referred to as Activin-beta-E. The homodimeric molecule consisting of two Inhibin-beta-E subunits is called also Activin E.
cDNA clones have been isolated from a murine liver cDNA gene library and also from rat tissues (Fang et al, 1996; O'Bryan et al, 2000). Inhibin-beta-E is highly related to Inhibin-beta-C and Inhibin-beta-D. The rat gene gives rise to two alternatively spliced mRNAs that appear to be expressed predominantly in hepatocytes.
