[Liver and Activation Regulated Chemokine] The cDNA for LARC, originally identified from expressed sequence tag sequences encodes a protein of 96 amino acids. It is a member of the CC-Chemokines. The human gene maps to chromosome 2q33-q37. The factor is identical with Exodus and MIP-3-alpha. The factor is known also as SCYA20. The factor has been renamed CCL20 (approved gene symbol) (Schutyser et al, 2003) Aminoterminal or carboxyterminal truncated bioactive variants of LARC have been isolated from stimulated leukocytes or tumor cell lines (Schutyser et al, 2000).
