[Lutheran blood group antigens, Lutheran blood group determinant, Lutheran blood group determinants, Lutheran blood group, Lu blood group antigens, Lu blood group determinant, Lu blood group determinants]
abbr. Lu. These blood group antigens have been identified as low abundance erythrocyte membrane glycoproteins of 85 kDa (major species) and 78 kDa (minor species), which differ only by the length of the cytoplasmic tail (Parsons et al, 1987; Daniels and Khalid, 1989; for overview see: Daniels, 2009). These glycoproteins are expressed on erythroid cells in peripheral blood (Judson et al, 1988) but are found also in various tissues and may represent developmentally regulated molecules in human liver (Parsons et al, 1995).
