[Monocyte chemotactic protein-5] called also Monocyte chemoattractant protein-5. This murine protein is a member of the family of CC-Chemokines (Sarafi et al, 1997). The factor is known also as SCYA12. The factor has been renamed CCL12 (approved gene symbol See also: SCY family of cytokines for a systematic nomenclature used previously.
The protein is related most closely to human MCP-1 (66 % amino acid identity). Cells transfected with the chemokine receptor CCR2 have been shown to respond to MCP-5. Cells transfected with other receptors such as CCR1,
