This term has multiple meanings:
(-1-) macrophage procoagulant inducing factor
This biochemically uncharacterized factor of approximately 55 kDa is called also MPCA inducing factor (macrophage procoagulant activity inducing factor). It is produced by Th0 and Th1 T-helper cells but not by Th2 cells. The factor promotes the procoagulant properties of macrophages (deposition of fibrin) and is a chemoattractant for phagocytosing cells (see also: Chemotaxis). It is involved probably in delayed type hypersensitivity reactions.
