(approved gene symbol) [programmed cell death-7] This protein is known also as apoptosis-related protein ES18 (Park et al, 1999). The cDNA for this gene has been identified in mouse embryonic stem cells. ES18 is expressed preferentially in lymph node and thymus. The gene is involved in specific apoptotic processes induced in mouse T-cells by glucocorticoids and staurosporine. Transient overexpression of ES18 in mouse T-cell lymphoma increases cell death by apoptosis.
