[platelet and T-cell activation antigen 1] This glycoprotein antigen of 67 kDa has been identified by Scott et al (1989) on platelets and T-cells. A monoclonal antibody detecting this antigen stimulates platelet secretion. The protein is rapidly phosphorylated upon platelet activation in response to this antibody or collagen, thrombin, and 12-O-tetradecanoyl-phorbol-13-acetate. Sherrington et al (1997) have reported that PTA1 is identical to TLiSA1 [T lineage-specific activation antigen 1], a T-cell specific activation antigen involved in the differentiation of cytotoxic T-cells and NK-cells from their precursors.
