mousepox virus p28 protein |
||
This protein has been identified in the larvae of the green-veined white butterfly Pieris napi (for related proteins see also: Pierisin-1, Pierisin-2, Pierisin-3, Pierisin-4, Pierisin-5). The protein has activities of an anticancer peptide. It is cytotoxic for HeLa, HepG2 human cancer cell lines and the L-132 human lung epithelial cell line. Treatment with Pierisin-6 increases the percentage of apoptotic cells in the sub G1 phase and cell cycle arrest at S phase, activating caspase-3 (Sarathbabu S et al, 2019).
