Jiang et al (1999) have reported that SODD associates with the death domain of the TNF-alpha receptor TNFR1, which prevents receptor self-association and signaling independent of ligand. TNF-alpha treatment releases SODD from the receptor, permitting the recruitment of proteins such as TRADD and TRAF2 to the active receptor signaling complex. SODD also interacts with death receptor-3 (DR3), another member of the TNF receptor superfamily
