Sepiatocin is a nonapeptide neuropeptide (CFWTTCPIGamide) expressed in the entire central nervous system of the cuttlefish Sepia officinalis. The gene for the cloned precursor shows the typical architecture of the precursors of the vasopressin / oxytocin hormone superfamily of vertebrates Sepiatocin is highly homologous to Octopus vulgaris octopressin. Sepiatocin modulates the contractile activity of several muscles such as penis, oviduct and vena cava muscles and is thought to act as a neuromodulator with an involvement in reproduction and blood circulation (Henry et al, 2013).
