Spodoptericin

Spodoptericin is a protein belonging to the family of insect defensins. It is expressed by Spodoptera frugiperda insect cells (Sf9 cells). Spodoptericin is considered to be involved in S. frugiperda innate humoral response. Its expression is upregulated eakly following injection of bacteria and fungi of S. frugiperda.

The ortholog in Bombyx mori has been identified as BmDefensinA [Bombyx mori defensin A].
