Tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase (abbr. TrpRS; also: TTS) is an enzyme (EC6.1.1.2 in the enzyme nomenclature catalogue) that belongs to the family of aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases. It is called also Tryptophan-tRNA Ligase. The plays an essential role in protein synthesis in all cell types by attaching tryptophan to the appropriate tRNA that subsequently directs the insertion of tryptophan into a growing peptide chain during translation (Kisselev, 1993). The cytoplasmic form of of Tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase is encoded by the WARS1 gene [Tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase 1] (also: WARS; sometimes abbr. also: WRS
