beta-casomorphins

This general collective term refers to a class of bioactive cryptic peptide fragments obtained by hydrolysis of beta-casein (casein-beta; human gene symbol: CSN2; abbr. also CASB). For sequence information see also: Lönnerdal et al (1990), Hansson et al (1994), Greenberg et al (1984). These peptides belong to a family of exogenous opioid peptides (see also: exorphins), but some casomorphins also have other activities.
