This synthetic peptide (SALLRSIPAPAGASRLLLLTGEIDLP) is a hybrid in which ADNF-9 (SALLRSIPA), a bioactive fragment of ADNF [activity-dependent neurotrophic factor] has been fused to AGA-(C8R)-HNG17, a derivative of humanin (Chiba et al, 2005). Colivelin is active as a neuroprotective factor at femtomolar concentrations. Intracerebroventricular administration of Colivelin completely suppresses impairment in spatial working memory induced by repetitive intracerebroventricular injection of Abeta25-35 or Abeta1-42, and also antagonizes neuronal loss in the CA1 region of hippocampus induced by hippocampal injection of Abeta1-42
