This cell type, known also as corticotropic cells (corticotrope cells, corticotrophs) or adrenocorticolipotropes (adrenocorticotropes, adrenocorticotropin cells), is found in the pituitary and is one of five hormone-producing cell types in the pituitary (the others being thyrotropes, lactotropes, somatotropes, gonadotropes).
