[peptide tyrosine arginine; the name reflects the N- and C-terminal residues] This octadecapeptide (YLKGCWTKSYPPKPCFSR) has been isolated from the skin secretions of the dusky gopher frog (Rana sevosa) on the basis of histamine release from rat peritoneal mast cells. pYR shares 77.8 % homology with pLR (peptide leucine arginine). pYR has been shown to inhibit the early development of granulocyte and macrophage colonies from bone marrow stem cells in a colony formation assay.
