trkE
The trkE receptor has been identified and cloned by Di Marco et al (1993). The receptor is related to the trk family of receptors for neurotrophins. It is expressed in keratinocytes, widely in other tissues, but does not seem to be expressed in the liver. Di Marco et al (1993) have reported that NGF is a potent autocrine stimulator of keratinocyte proliferation and acts through the trkE expressed on human keratinocytes.
In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD167a.
