26 kDa protein

This protein, called also IL1-inducible 26k factor, was detected initially as a factor induced in human fibroblasts following their stimulation with IL1, TNF, PDGF or poly(I)-poly(C) (Van Damme et al, 1987). The protein was also immunoprecipitated by an antiserum raised against partially purified human IFN-beta.

The factor was found to be identical with several other factors identified early in research on cytokines, including HGF (hybridoma growth factor), PCT-GF (plasmacytoma growth factor), IFN-beta-2 (see: IFN-beta), or HPGF ( ... ... ... ...
