[B-cell lymphoma/leukemia-10] This gene is located near the breakpoint of a specific chromosomal translocation in a B-cell lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (Willis et al, 1999). It is a cellular homologous sequence of the equine herpesvirus-2 gene E10 (see also: CLAP, CIPER). The protein has a length of 233 amino acids. Both proteins contain a CARD domain found also in several other proteins associated with apoptosis.
BCL10 has been shown to activate transcription factor NF-kappa-B. Its expression causes cell death by apoptosis in HEK293 cells
