BOK

[BCL2-related ovarian killer] The gene for this protein (213 amino acids) was isolated from a rat ovarian cDNA library as a gene promoting apoptosis (Hsu et al, 1997). Its mRNA is expressed highly in the ovary, testis and uterus, especially in granulosa cells, the cell type that undergoes apoptosis during follicle atresia. The protein is being referred to also as BCL2L9 [BCL2-like-9]. Sequence analysis reveals that BOK is identical with Mtd [matador].

BOK contains conserved BCL2 homology domains BH1, BH2, and BH3 ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
