[Corpus luteum angiogenic factor] This factor possesses the ability to augment new blood vessel formation (see: Angiogenesis). It is an aminoterminally truncated form of brain fibroblast growth factor bFGF.
The biological activity of CLAF is indistinguishable from that of pituitary FGF or brain FGF. It is highly mitogenic for cultured bovine vascular endothelial cells.
