CRADD

[Caspase and RIP adaptor with death domain] CRADD is expressed constitutively in many tissues and has been identified as adaptor/signaling molecule involved in cell death by apoptosis. (Ahmad et al, 1997) CRADD is the same as RAIDD.

CRADD contains a death domain and has a dual-domain structure similar to that of another cell death adaptor molecule, FADD. Overexpression of CRADD has been shown to induce cell death by apoptosis. CRADD interacts with the adaptor molecules Caspase-2 (ICH-1) and RIP and binds to the prodomain of caspase-2, recruiting this enzyme to the signaling complex.
