[dendritic cell-specific transmembrane protein; dendrocyte-expressed seven transmembrane protein] a putative seven-transmembrane protein of 470 amino acids identified by a DNA subtraction screen between multinuclear osteoclasts and mononuclear macrophages. The protein is expressed specifically by dendritic cells, and not in a panel of other leukocytes or non-hematopoietic cells (Hartgers et al, 2000). Eleveld-Trancikova et al (2005) have reported that human and murine DC-STAMP proteins are highly conserved and localized to the endoplasmic reticulum.
