[African swine fever virus EP402R] an open reading frame within the genome of the African swine fever virus genome expressed during the late phase of virus replication. The gene encodes a polypeptide of 402 amino acid residues homologous to the adhesion receptor of T-cells, CD2.
Viruses lacking expression of EP402R show normal growth rates in vitro. These viruses can no longer induce the adsorption of pig erythrocytes to the surface of infected cells.
