Haptotaxin

this poorly characterized factor purified from the human lung adenocarcinoma cell line WART (Klominek et al, 1998) stimulates the migration of lung carcinoma cells. The factor greatly enhances hapototaxis in the presence of different concentrations of the extracellular matrix components fibronectin, laminin or collagen type 4. Haptotaxin also stimulates cell migration under these conditions (see also: chemotaxis, motogenic cytokines).

Haptotaxin potentiates adhesion and spreading of tumor cells on these substrata but does not in itself mediate adhesion and spreading of the cells.
