[Janus kinase-2] JAK2 is one of the non-receptor tyrosine kinases known as Janus kinases. The cDNA encoding the human protein has been cloned by Saltzman et al (1998). The protein has 95 % sequence similarity to pig and rat JAK2. The gene has been identified independently as JTK10. Harpur et al (1992) have identified the cDNA. Dalal et al (1998) have cloned the human gene. The gene encoding JAK2 maps to chromosome 9p24 (Pritchard et al, 1992).
